We are deeply fascinated by the unique electronic and catalytic properties that emerge from low-symmetry, anisotropic (1D and 2D) metal chalcogenides (MCs). These materials have shown tremendous promise for next-generation technologies, including electronics, optoelectronics, energy storage, and chemical sensing. We aim to understand and control the synthesis of these materials, diving into both the mechanisms that govern their growth and the strategies to tailor their properties. We explore various synthetic techniques—such as solution-phase and vapor-phase synthesis—to obtain high-quality anisotropic MC crystals. We also focus on methods to tune their dimensions, crystal phases, compositions, defect densities, and heterostructures to achieve desired functionalities. What excites us most is how these materials can be applied in real-world technologies. We actively investigate their use in electronic and optoelectronic devices, catalysts and sensing platforms.
